We are both a department of the University of Oxford and a major international publishing organization with a significant presence in Hong Kong. We have the following vacancies:
Learning and Development Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Learning and Development Consultant with excellent communication and presentation skills from the English language and teaching (ELT) field to empower the users of OUP products and services to advance and thrive.
Responsibilities include:
  • Reporting to the Business Development Director and leading the Learning and Development team
  • Monitor and assure teaching quality and provide product related and educational support to clients
  • Deliver effective presentations on professional development seminars, promotional and pedagogical talks
  • Support the development of professional development as well as product content in conjunction with different departments on a range of topics and titles in order to support specific local or international campaigns, face-to-face and online
  • Continuously review and develop as well as assess the effectiveness of product and training content
About You
  • An English native-speaker with experience in teaching EFL/ESL and/or young children (age 0-12).
  • Experience in leading a small team for at least 2 years
  • Degree holder, preferably in Education (Early Childhood, English Language Teaching, and/or TESOL/TEFL)
  • Mature with excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Independent, meticulous, organized and able to work under pressure
  • Energetic, motivated and effective communicator and a team player
  • Willingness to travel to Mainland China and overseas
  • A passion for learning and the people who make it happen
  • High levels of literacy and computer/technology proficiency

Promotions Executive
Job Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with different business units to execute practical marketing and promotional plans through advertising, joint promotions, events, online and social media.
  • Copy write and edit marketing collaterals including newsletters, brochures and leaflets.
  • Create engaging content for different digital platforms and assist with day-to-day maintenance of online/ social media initiatives.
  • Work with advertising agency in the production of marketing / sales campaigns and design of ATL & BTL materials.
Requirements:
  • Degree in business related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience.
  • Detail-minded, independent, innovative and organized with strong sense of responsibility.
  • A good team player with strong interpersonal, communication & project management skills.
  • Good command of English and Chinese.
  • Good PC knowledge such as Excel, Word, Power Point & Chinese typing.
Sales Executive (Home Learning)
Job Responsibilities:
  • To reach the sales target.
  • To reach the daily and monthly pre-set KPIs.
  • To deliver professional selling and post selling service for our users.
  • To participate actively in customer related activity.
Requirements:
  • University degree holder.
  • Minimum 1 year working experience.
  • A good team player with strong communication skill.
  • Experience in working early childhood related is an advantage
Editorial Director (Humanities, Maths and Science)
About the Role
To oversee all HMS (Humanities, Maths and Science) Division management matters and provide directives, reviews, reports, recommendations and necessary professional contributions so that a profitable and growing body of quality, marketable HMS publishing projects for the relevant market are completed consistently and satisfactorily. To participate in OUP management efforts and provide managerial input so that the mission and operational objectives of OUP are fulfilled.
  • Provide timely and effective operational directives to the HMS Division based on acute understanding of market development and alignment with OUP mission goals and business objectives.
  • Interpret research results and collective intelligence generated among the HMS Division and other internal and external parties to develop publishing plans, formulate competitive strategies and design/proposal of winning products/services.
  • Maintain, update and enhance workflows, standard operating procedures (SOP), best practices, and quality assurance measures so that the best professional practices are employed to deliver products of the highest possible quality on time.
  • Manage the recruitment, deployment and training of staff in the HMS team so that there is an orderly supply of editorial staff who are able to tackle the changing needs of HMS and OUP at all levels.
  • Supervise and conduct coaching, career development and mentoring programmes so that there is an orderly succession for key positions in the HMS team, and positive sharing of publishing knowledge with other teams.
  • Create and maintain an uplifting working environment for HMS staff, so that proactive attitude and motivated performance is sustained.
  • Project, recommend and manage budgets, resource acquisition and deployment plans so that the benefit from monetary and resource investments are maximized.
  • Manage the commissioning, employment and development of a network of HMS authors, experts, consultants, and freelance contributors so that a steady pool of external talent is available to HMS projects.
  • Coach and support HMS staff in conducting positive and mutually-supportive communication with internal departments and external collaborators so that publishing projects achieve higher quality and better efficiency, and staff gain a more uplifting working experience.
  • Develop, manage and maintain good relationship with EDB, subject-related scholars, opinion leaders and teachers so that cooperation and collaboration with different parties can be established.
  • Promote and participate in beneficial HMS activities in the community so that trust in OUP and its positive image is continually enhanced.
  • Performance appraisals for the Editorial Director will be conducted by the General Manager with reference to the above measures.

Designer
Job Responsibilities:
  • Design for both print publishing and e-publishing of our English and Chinese titles from initial ideas to production
Requirements:
  • Polytechnic/Design institute graduate in graphic design
  • 3 years relevant experience in design or publishing industry
  • Creative, with good typographic sense
  • Mac/PC proficiency using InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and MS Office
  • Self-motivated, responsible, able to work independently under tight deadlines
  • Good illustration skill and knowledge of mastering softwares for multimedia production are advantages
  • Good command of spoken and written English is preferable
Assistant Finance Manager
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the accounting routines including sales billing operations, licensing/subsidiary incomes invoicing and collection, royalty process and rebate payable
  • Supervise the accounting team for production costing, inventory valuation and reconciliation, and variance analysis
  • Responsible for month-end close including subsidiaries accounts and journal reviews
  • Prepare monthly reporting pack for Group consolidation
  • Prepare balance sheet schedules and reconciliation
  • Prepare tax computation, regulatory filing and related schedules for Group Tax review
  • Prepare management report and analytical review
  • Prepare annual budget, monthly forecast including variance and gap analysis with commentaries
  • Supervise team members and support the initiatives for workflow and process improvement; and system enhancement
  • Ensure compliance for group accounting policies and liaise with auditors for statutory audit and internal audit
  • Provide support for ad-hoc projects
Requirements:
  • University graduate major in Finance or Accounting
  • HKICPA or ACCA qualified is a MUST
  • At least 5 years post qualification experience and 3 years supervising experiences in the related areas
  • Exposure in PRC accounting and tax would be an asset
  • Flexible, able to work independently under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Good team player and able to interact with people at all levels
  • Practical experience in SAP, FICO certified preferred
  • Computer proficiency with advanced MS Excel skill
  • Fluent English and Mandarin
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player; highly organized and able to work independently and under pressure
