NEW CENTURY Mathematics (1A-3B) is a completely new series of coursebook written to prepare the students to meet the requirements of the latest Key Stage 3 (Secondary 1-3) Syllabus. The series is interesting, informative, and relevant to students' daily life experiences. It has been specifically designed and written in coordination with the New Senior Secondary curriculum, implemented in 2009.

Special Features:
1 Linking up the Primary and Senior Secondary Curricula

  • Chapter 0 in Book 1A and Pre-Learning help students revise the knowledge learnt in the primary level, and adapt to the Junior Secondary Curriculum.
  • Inquiry & Investigation let students try on this new element in the Senior Secondary Curriculum.
  • Supplementary Exercise and Revision Test include Public Exam Questions to familiarize students with the question types in the public examination.
  • Open-ended Questions, Integrated Questions (across chapters) and Cross-subject Questions provide students with skills in answering these question types.

2 Catering for Learner Diversity

  • Exercise and Supplementary Exercise not only provide ample Level 1 and Level 2 questions but also Challenging Problems. In addition, ADDitional Exercise at the end of the book provides Level 0+ and Level 1+ questions. These various levels of questions offer full support to students of different abilities.

3 Enhancing the Abilities of Self-learning

  • Class Activity, Clue or Diagram Clue by the side of the Example stimulate students to learn and to think on their own initiative.
  • The assessment tables in Warm-up Exercise and Class Practice allow students to assess their own work.
  • Revision Organizer consists of Important Concepts and Formulae and Revision Test, that help students organize effective revision.

4 Encouraging Step-by-step Learning

  • Learn in Apple-Pie Order helps students learn procedures step-by-step.
  • Quick Example is followed by Fast Check, Example which is divided into Level 1 and Level 2 is followed by Instant Drill. These help students to revise what have been learnt immediately.

5 Complete IT Support

  • IT Activity in the main text, IT Exploration in the Appendix, and Oxford/Canotta Maths Web provide a variety of IT resources for students to explore.
