Oxford University Press (China) Limited (OUPC) has won the Best Publishing Award in the Literature and Fiction category at the Hong Kong Publishing Biennial Awards 2025, organized by the Hong Kong Publishing Professionals Society. The winning title, Tai Po Stories (大埔故事), stood out among over 400 Chinese-language entries.

Tai Po Stories is written by Professor Eva Hung, a renowned translator, and was published by OUPC in 2023. The author, a native of Tai Po who has recently moved overseas, was inspired by a deepened sense of belonging to her hometown to write about it. The book blends historical materials, collective memory, and personal experiences, using a lively writing style to depict various stories of Tai Po. Whether you're a travel enthusiast, a history lover, or simply someone who loves Hong Kong, you’re bound to enjoy this book—because the story of Tai Po is, in essence, the history of the Hong Kong people.

After two rounds of professional evaluation, the book was selected by a panel of 17 experts and scholars from Hong Kong and other Chinese regions as the winner in the Literature and Fiction category. The judges praised Tai Po Stories for its beautiful language and engaging content. The book documents the author’s personal growth in Tai Po alongside the district’s development, making it a valuable work of documentary and historical literature.

Ms Nancy Yip, the Managing Director of Oxford University Press (China) congratulated Professor Hung and expressed gratitude to the Hong Kong Publishing Professionals Society: “We are honoured to publish Tai Po Stories. This book not only records the development of Tai Po and Hong Kong but also vividly portrays the real-life experiences and community spirit of a generation of Hongkongers. OUPC has been serving Hong Kong for over 60 years, committed to publishing high-quality books and resources to promote a reading culture. We will continue to publish diverse works to support local literary creation and the publishing industry.”
