The e-learning workshop ‘Get ready to enhance students’ language awareness through e-learning’ was held on 25 May 2016 and received overwhelming support from primary school teachers. The workshop called on distinguished guest speaker Dr Paul Sze, Adjunct Assistant Professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, to share his valuable insights on enhancing students’ grammatical competence through e-learning language awareness (LA) tasks.

Dr Sze started the workshop by talking about the importance of enhancing students’ language awareness and explained how it can be achieved by e-learning adoption, which also helps teachers save time when doing lesson preparation. Dr Sze then shared with teachers some authentic examples of offline/stand-alone tasks designed by local schools, such as interactive PowerPoints. He also introduced some e-learning applications which facilitate language learning through informal and formal assessments of various types, such as individual or group assessments. Dr Sze concluded by pointing out that apart from facilitating language learning, e-learning is also beneficial to the development of students’ soft skills, like communication and cooperation skills.

During the workshop, teachers were all actively engaged in the e-learning tasks prepared by Dr Sze.
Here are some snapshots of the day.
