Accountant

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform monthly close including subsidiaries accounts
  • Prepare monthly report pack for Headquarter consolidation
  • Prepare monthly financial report including variance analysis for local management
  • Assist in annual budget preparation, monthly forecast including variance and gap analysis with commentaries
  • Handle the accounting process for licensing incomes including billing, collection, contract compliance, tax filing and related financial matters
  • Co-ordinate with team members and support the initiatives for workflow and process improvement; and system enhancement
  • Ensure compliance for group accounting policies and liaise with auditors for statutory audit and internal audit
  • Provide support for ad-hoc projects as directed by supervisor

Job Requirements:
  • A university degree in Accounting or related disciplines
  • Member of HKICPA or equivalent
  • 5 years post qualification experience and 2 years supervising experiences; Working experience for PRC accounting is preferable
  • Flexible, able to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Strong IT skills, both in the use of MS windows and ERP systems (SAP / BW)

Business Development Director

Job Responsibilities:
  • Strategize business development plan that grows market share and profitability of OUP business in the area of learning centre, digital and export; Provide timely and effective operational directives to grow market share and profitability based on acute understanding of market development, user needs and alignment with OUP China’s mission goals and business objectives;
  • Collect market information and conduct analysis that facilitates product & services development and strategic decision making. Interpret research result and collective intelligence generated among editorial, sales, marketing, and other sources to formulate competitive strategies, design and proposal of winning products and services;
  • Improve, innovate and explore new business models to capture new market opportunities and the changing needs of customers and partners;
  • Oversee department budget and the implementation of the plan to achieve sales and strategic objectives. Project, recommend and manage budgets, resource acquisition and deployment plans to that the benefit from monetary and resource investments are optimized;
  • Develop and maintain a healthy relationships with strategic partners (including but not limited to trainers, distributors, quality learning centres and importers) and sales channel that optimize sales opportunity and customer satisfaction;
  • Steer talent development plan for the department. Coach and develop talents for current and future business needs.

Job Requirements:
  • A university degree holder;
  • At least 15 years’ senior management experience in sales, business development and/or marketing with proven success;

Editorial Director (Humanities, Maths and Science)

About the Role:
To oversee all HMS (Humanities, Maths and Science) Division management matters and provide directives, reviews, reports, recommendations and necessary professional contributions so that a profitable and growing body of quality, marketable HMS publishing projects for the relevant market are completed consistently and satisfactorily. To participate in OUP management efforts and provide managerial input so that the mission and operational objectives of OUP are fulfilled.
Job responsibilities:
  • Provide timely and effective operational directives to the HMS Division based on acute understanding of market development and alignment with OUP mission goals and business objectives.
  • Interpret research results and collective intelligence generated among the HMS Division and other internal and external parties to develop publishing plans, formulate competitive strategies and design/proposal of winning products/services.
  • Maintain, update and enhance workflows, standard operating procedures (SOP), best practices, and quality assurance measures so that the best professional practices are employed to deliver products of the highest possible quality on time.
  • Manage the recruitment, deployment and training of staff in the HMS team so that there is an orderly supply of editorial staff who are able to tackle the changing needs of HMS and OUP at all levels.
  • Supervise and conduct coaching, career development and mentoring programmes so that there is an orderly succession for key positions in the HMS team, and positive sharing of publishing knowledge with other teams.
  • Create and maintain an uplifting working environment for HMS staff, so that proactive attitude and motivated performance is sustained.
  • Project, recommend and manage budgets, resource acquisition and deployment plans so that the benefit from monetary and resource investments are maximized.
  • Manage the commissioning, employment and development of a network of HMS authors, experts, consultants, and freelance contributors so that a steady pool of external talent is available to HMS projects.
  • Coach and support HMS staff in conducting positive and mutually-supportive communication with internal departments and external collaborators so that publishing projects achieve higher quality and better efficiency, and staff gain a more uplifting working experience.
  • Develop, manage and maintain good relationship with EDB, subject-related scholars, opinion leaders and teachers so that cooperation and collaboration with different parties can be established.
  • Promote and participate in beneficial HMS activities in the community so that trust in OUP and its positive image is continually enhanced.
  • Performance appraisals for the Editorial Director will be conducted by the General Manager with reference to the above measures.

Job Requirements:
  • University degree, preferably in related disciplines
  • 10 years related editorial experience, preferably in educational publishing

ELT Senior Editor / Editor (Secondary)

Job Responsibilities:
  • Plan, design and develop English Language Teaching (ELT) publications of the highest possible quality;
  • Manage the editorial process to ensure all material is produced on time and to budget;
  • Liaise with authors, freelance contributors, teachers and academic consultants to ensure high standards of content;
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams in market research, promotion and sales activities;
  • Collaborate with design, production and technical teams on publishing and digital/multimedia productions

Job Requirements:
  • A University degree, preferably in a field related to language and/or education;

Executive Editor / Editor / Assistant Editor (Mathematics)

 Job responsibilities:

  • Assist in all stages of the production of English and/or Chinese teaching and learning materials in book, audio-visual or electronic form

  • Ensure the teaching and learning materials are accurate and meet market needs and schedules, in order to achieve the policy and profit objectives set by management.

  • Prepare manuscript, including proof-reading, copy-editing, develop ideas and prepare briefs for illustrations of books and products

Job Requirements:

Solution Architect

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide pro-active technology solutioning support in the analysis, design, planning, and governance of programmes, projects and change initiatives;
  • Produce high quality deliverables by selecting and applying appropriate methods and standards in order to facilitate investigations and decisions and ensure they are applied to meet business objectives;
  • Undertake analysis of technology solution options and associated costs, Conduct gap analysis, and proof of concepts for new solutions, as appropriate. Identify issues and risks and lead their resolution as required;
  • Develop solution recommendations. Apply knowledge of technology options and survey market landscape for solution insights, direction, and vendors, as required;
  • Determine and create a solution architecture and design to effectively meet requirements and costs & maintaining the integrity of the technology strategy and enterprise architecture roadmap and standards;

Job Requirements:
  • A university degree in relevant Technology discipline;
  • Qualification of Solution Architect Level 5- 6 SFIA skills is preferred;
  • Facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills;
  • In-depth knowledge of the current “as is architecture” to ensure solutions meet the business need;
  • solution architecture development experiences in a complex geographical / functional matrix organization has advantage;
  • Knowledge and understanding of world class Technology organizations with a strong external perspective of developments in Technology;
